A coast-to-coast competitive rally for electric vehicles, built on the rulebook, technology, and traditions of the ADV Cannonball Rally.
The EV Cannonball Rally carries over the foundations of our renowned international event: the same competitive format, the same scoring philosophy, and the same ethos. You ride your own rally. You fix your own bike at midnight in a gas station parking lot. You make the checkpoint or you own the reason you did not, and nobody hands you anything you have not earned on the road. Riders and drivers who have run the ADV Cannonball Rally will recognise the event from the first briefing.
The route sets optional off-pavement checkpoints for competitors chasing points, with a reliable paved alternative available the whole way across. Range anxiety is part of the challenge. Getting stranded is not part of the plan.
This is a solo event. No teams, no chase vehicles, no private support of any kind. Competitors use only the public resources available to everyone on the route, the same chargers, the same shops, the same weather, the same queue. What you carry and what you can find is what you have.
Eligibility: every purely electric vehicle is welcome. Motorcycles, cars, and anything else that runs on electrons alone.
Two wheels and four wheels are the only categories. Turn up on an electric VTOL and we will write an airborne category for you. Go on then.

Four ways to finish
There are two overall wins, one on two wheels and one on four, and no other classes. No battery capacity brackets, no charging speed divisions, and no separate class for whatever experimental machine you turned up in or what it cost. A hundred grand of prototype and a used commuter run for the same trophy. Three further awards recognise the routes competitors choose to ride, and every one of them is claimed on the road rather than handed out.

EV Cannonball Winner Award
Awarded to the competitor holding the most points at the end of the rally.
Two categories, and only two: first overall on two wheels, and first overall on four wheels.
B All checkpoints
Checkpoint Crusher Award
Awarded to any competitor who completes all checkpoints.
Dirt and Extreme checkpoints are not required.
C Off pavement
Rough Rider Award
Awarded to any competitor who completes all Dirt checkpoints.
Extreme checkpoints are not required.
D Coast to coast
Finisher Medal
Awarded to any competitor who completes the Finish Line checkpoint.
Why we can run this
Our Rally Master holds the EV Cannonball record
This is a new rally, but it is not a new team. Rally Master Aaron Pufal rode solo from the Red Ball Garage in New York City to the Portofino Hotel in California to set the electric motorcycle Cannonball record, on a 2021 Harley-Davidson LiveWire One, tracked and witnessed the entire distance.

An example of how a Cannonball route is built: a mandatory daily start and finish, with checkpoints scattered on and off the pavement in between. The 2028 EV route will follow the same structure, plotted around charging infrastructure.
Understand what you are looking at. This is not a tour. There is no easy day on it, no group photo stop, and nobody waiting at the roadside to pick you up. It is a competitive rally, it is hard on purpose, and it is not for everyone.
